    Ocoee Voting Massacre

    THE REASON WHY WE SHOULD VOTE.. The Ocoee massacre was a white mob attack on African American residents in northern Ocoee, Florida, which occurred on November 2, 1920, the day of the U.S. presidential election. The town is in Orange County near Orlando. Most estimates total that 30–35 of Black people were murdered, although as many as 50 African Americans may have been killed during the massacre. Most African American-owned buildings and residences in northern Ocoee were burned to the ground. Other African Americans living in southern Ocoee were later killed or driven out on threat of more violence. Ocoee essentially became an all-white town.     Gospel Legend Bishop Rance Allen Has Passed Away.

    Gospel singer Bishop Rance Allen has died at the age of 71. Allen’s wife Ellen Allen and his manager Toby Jackson released a joint statement on his death Saturday morning, saying, “While recovering from a medical procedure at Heartland Pro Medica [in Sylvania, OH], Bishop Rance Allen passed away around 3 AM this morning.” Allen was the founder of gospel band the Rance Allen Group. He is known for his work with everyone in the gospel music business. Allen served as Prelate of the Michigan Northwest Harvest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Bishop Robert G.     Momma Megan Does It Again

    Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion on Thursday announced a $10,000 scholarship fund in partnership with Amazon Music’s hip-hop brand Rap Rotation. The “Don’t Stop” fund will be awarded to two women of color pursuing college educations, according to a press release.  Named after her recent release, “Don’t Stop (feat. Young Thug),” the scholarship fund aims to help two recipients push past “the obstacles” of 2020, and “work it” as they pursue their degrees.     According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Ray J filed for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County Court, today, and is asking a judge to order joint custody of the couple’s two children. The ‘Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’ star also claims the couple has a prenuptial agreement, which outlines support, and personal property which is not a part of the marriage and should be enforced.     Actor Chadwick Boseman has died at 43 after battling colon cancer for four years, according to a statement posted on his Twitter account. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the statement reads. “It was the honor of his life to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.” Boseman worked on a number of films and TV shows over the last two decades, including 42 where he portrayed iconic baseball player Jackie Robinson, James Brown in Get on Up, and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, but he was best known for his role as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.     Here we go again, L.A. County deputies point guns at 3 Black teens who said a man tried to stab them

    An outraged California community is asking why sheriff’s deputies pointed guns at three Black teenagers, who said a man chased them with a knife. Witness video shows one of the deputies aiming what looks like an assault rifle. The Los Angeles County sheriff says he’s concerned about the tactics the deputies used. In the video, desperate bystanders are heard pleading with deputies to stand down, defending the three Black teens at the other end of the officers’ weapons. “Put your guns down,” one said. “They’re kids.” Each of the teens obeyed deputies’ commands to walk back toward them with their hands raised.
